8 year old abused; AIIMS doc under scanner

New Delhi, Jan 31: An eight-year-old boy's father filed a complaint against a senior resident doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for allegedly molesting his son in the hospital.

The complaint filed to medical authority described that the doctor, who is a final-year medical student, sexually assaulted the boy on Jan 23, a day after his operation. Doctor took the boy from ICU to his duty room and harrased him.

The accused doctor threatened the boy not to tell anyone or he would not be discharged from hospital. The boy was discharged from the hospital on Jan 24 and later he told about this brutal incident to his father.

"After sexually assaulting my son, he (doctor) threatened him with dire consequences and said he would not be discharged if he mentioned the ill-treatment to anyone. My son was very afraid but confided in his mother on the 24th of Jan," boy's father said in the complaint filed to AIIMS Committee for Addressing Complaints of Sexual Harassment.

Responding to the complaint AIIMS administration said in a statement, "We are in receipt of your complaint against a senior resident doctor from the department of neurosurgery regarding forcing your son to indulge in a sexual act during his admission. Since the complaint is of a very serious nature, we have forwarded it to our committee for investigation."
