Mumbai, Jan 30 (PTI) Disc Jockeys can now raise theirvoice through Shiv Sena which has formed an organisation tobring them together.
A cine wing of the party, Maharashtra Cinema andTelevision Sena has set up a federation for DJs to solve theirissues.
"There are about 50,000 DJs in the country and we arebringing them together for the first time. We want to solvetheir problems and give them professional security likelicences and identity cards," the President of the Cinema SenaAkshay Bardapurkar told PTI.
The DJs face a lot of problems like not getting moneyon time, there are no proper contracts entered into with clubsor bars and no insurance for the instruments they used, Akshaysaid.
DJ Akbar Sami, who is supporting the efforts, said"it is a good idea to bring the DJs together over variousissues and soon we would meet to chalk out a plan on whatneeds to be done."
DJ artist Savio Dissa who approached the Sena said theprofession has been growing fast but the youths who aregetting into it face lot of uncertainties.
"The passion for music attracts lot of youngsters tothe profession. But there are issues like identification,insurance, proper contract system. It has become a full-timejobs for many and we want to streamline the profession withthe help of the Shiv Sena," Savio said.
The federation would start working by distributingidentity cards to give them recognition as a DJ and a websitein this regard would also be launched soon, Savio said.
The Sena sources said that it is an attempt to attractmore youths to the party to fight with Raj Thackeray-ledMaharashtra Navnirman Sena.
However, there are some within the party who havereservations about the move as the party known for moralpolicing is supporting the profession imported from thewestern culture.
