Harbhajan offers to set up sports academy in Punjab

Chandigarh, Jan 30 (PTI) Star cricketer Harbhajan Singhhas offered to set up a multi-disciplinary Sports Academy inPunjab.

Harbhajan today met deputy chief minister of Punjab,Sukhbir Singh Badal with a proposal to set up Sports Academyin the state where the budding talent of different sportscould be nurtured and honed for international competitions.

"After getting recognition in cricket, it is my duty thatI should also return something to the sport," Harbhajan said.

He said that he was envisioning a Multi DisciplinarySports Academy in which he would provide state-of-the-artfacilities to the players.

Harbhajan also said that he was already in touch withinternational players of different games, who would pool theirefforts and expertise for setting up this Academy andproviding coaching to the players.

Appreciating the proposal of Harbhajan, Badal askedhim to submit a detailed project report of the proposed SportsAcademy so that government could move forward after processingthe same. .
