Govt delaying process of recovering black money: Rajnath

Kozhikode, Jan 29 (PTI) The Centre is "deliberately"delaying the process of recovering black money, stashed inSwiss banks, as it would expose cash trails linking "higherups in Congress," senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said.

"The Government seems to be hiding behind internationaltreaties and other legal obligations to shield those who holdaccounts in Swiss banks," the former BJP president toldreporters here.

Government is "deliberately delaying and diverting" theprocess of recovery of black money because "it is afraid thataquick response will expose many money trails which willestablish its links to higher ups in the Congress Party," healleged.

Singh also said UPA government''s "policy paralysis" ispushing the country towards an unprecedented economic crisiswith even higher income groups feeling the pinch of inflationon which the Centre is "completely clueless".

On the Central Vigilance Commissioner issue, he demandedthe government immediately take steps for removal of P JThomas under the CVC Act, which says President can act ifthe officer ''has acquired such financial or other interests asis likely to affect prejudicially his functions as CVC.''

The UPA Government''s track record on action againstcorruption and the corrupt was "questionable and dismal,"Singh alleged, adding that "it appointed Thomas as the CVCdespite being chargesheeted in Palmoline import scam."

On demand on Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the2G spectrum scam, he said, BJP would stick to JPC demand and"it is the government''s responsibility to ensure Parliament''ssmooth functioning in budget session."

He also said BJP is ready to face mid-term polls if thesituation arises.
