Chennai, Jan 30(ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Sunday urged the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to take all measures to reclaim black money stashed away in banks abroad.

Addressing the media in Chennai, Gadkari said that the money could be invested in various projects in the country.

"Now it is the time for the Central government for the national interest, they should rectify the law and take all black money to India and that should be utilized for giving infrastructure to the rural areas," Gadkari said.

"It can help poor people because we are facing lot of problem because of price rise and other problems," he added.

Gadkari also slammed the Central government for hiding the names of people who have accounts in the foreign banks.

"The Congress party argues that it is not in the national interest. I never understand what kind of national interest they are expecting," Gadkari said.

According to the data provided by the Swiss bank, India has more black money than rest of the world combined.

The UK has 390 billion dollars in black money, Russia has 470 billion dollars and India tops the list with almost 1500 billion dollars. (ANI)
