Chandigarh, Jan 30 (PTI) In a bid to boost the pre-schoolenrolment, Haryana government has distributed educationalkits to Anganwaris costing over four crores.
"While the kits worth Rs 4.31 crore have been given toAnganwaris, metallic bins have been purchased at a cost of Rs6.5 crore for ensuring storage of foodgrains," Haryana Womenand Child Development Minister Geeta Bhukkal said today.
She said Haryana Government has asked the Centre toamend the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) tofacilitate construction of Anganwaris with kitchen-sheds andfacilities of drinking water and toilets.
"The Central Government is providing funds at a rate ofRs 75,000 per kitchen-shed under the Mid-Day Meal Programme.
The ICDS caters to children up to six years of age. This groupis even more tender and fragile and calls for at least sametreatment by way of assistance under this component asprovided under the Mid Day Meal Programme," Bhukkal said.
