Kolkata, Jan 29 (PTI) Union Finance minister PranabMukherjee today said the government has taken a five-prongedstrategy for bringing back black money stashed abroad andhoped it would yield results.
"When we will enter into treaty with countries, wewill have relevant information to help unearth black money toget government share.
"The second issue was there are certain pending caseswhich we are also pursuing with respective countries", hetold reporters here.
Mukherjee had on January 25 said there was no legalframework available right now with the government to revealdetails about black money accounts and treaties were beingnegotiated with 65 countries for getting information about taxevaders.
He maintained that there were no clear estimates aboutblack money and the government has constituted amulti-disciplinary committee to get studies conducted toestimate the quantum of illicit funds generated by Indiancitizens.
Turning to the stalemate in Lok Sabha on the issue ofJPC probe into 2G spectrum scam, Mukherjee said "I have calledan all-party meeting to resolve the impasse in Parliament. Thebudget session is coming and we will try to see that thesession and business are transacted smoothly because it is avery important session. What happened in the winter sessionshould not be repeated".
Mukherjee has convened a meeting on February 8 aheadof the budget session in an effort to find a way out of theParliamentary stalemate over the opposition demand for a JointParliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum scam. PTIPKC SUN NN
