454 cases settled in Lok Adalat
Cuttack, Jan 31 (PTI) At least 454 pending cases weresettled in permanent and continuous Lok Adalat of Orissa HighCourt here by creating mutual consensus.
Surprisingly, a majority of the settled cases, 416 tobe exact, were contempt of court cases while the remaining 38were motor vehicle claim settle cases, informed the HC legalservices committee secretary B K Mohanty.
In the settled motor vehicle claim cases, more than Rs90 lakh were awarded to different claimants, Mohanty informedadding that four insurance companies�Oriental Insurance,National Insurance, United India and New India Insurancecompanies participated in the Lok Adalat.
������A total of five benches yesterday adjudicated thecases in the Lok Adalat which was presided over by JusticesPradeep Mohanty, S C Parija, B K Naik, S K Mishra and B KMishra.
Supreme Court judge Justice Mukundam Sharma, who is inthe city attending the ongoing East Zone Judicial Conferenceand Orissa Chief Justice V Gopal Gowda also visited the LokAdalat and appreciated the proceedings.
