Naidu to launch anti-corruption agitation tomorrow

Hyderabad, Jan 29 (PTI) TDP president and former AndhraPradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that hewould launch his anti-corruption agitation with a foot-march(pad-yatra) tomorrow, on Mahatma Gandhi''s death anniversary.

Naidu told reporters here that his "war on corruption"would be waged on an apolitical platform, through the NTRMemorial Trust. Jana Chaitanya Vedika, a voluntaryorganisation too would be a part of the agitation.

Naidu appealed intellectuals, celebrities, professionals,the media and the common people to join in.

"After the event tomorrow, we shall take our fight to thedistricts and the villages across Andhra Pradesh. We shallalso join hands with similar movements like India AgainstCorruption''," he said.

"We demand that the Government of India immediatelyconsider the draft Lokpal bill prepared by India AgainstCorruption and have a wider public debate on it," the TDPchief said.

"The Centre must enact the Lokpal bill, bringingthe Prime Minister under Lokpal''s purview, in the nextsession of Parliament," Naidu said.

The TDP chief criticised Union Finance Minister PranabMukherjee for offering "amnesty" plan for those who declareillegal deposits in foreign banks.

"The Supreme Court pulled up the Government at leastthree times on black money, which was unprecedented. It�s aclear slap on the face of the government but still it wastrying to shield those guilty," he said.

Prime Minister has not yet responded to his letter inthis regard, Naidu said.
