Taliban said that it executed this attack in an attempt to kill an official with a US based security contractor, formerly known as Blackwater.
Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon said, “this cowardly attack demonstrates that the insurgents have complete disregard for the safety and lives of civilians. Those who perpetrated this act of violence and those that support the insurgency must be held accountable to the Afghan people for this injustice."
The targeted supermarket was pretty famous with foreigners, which sells all American stuffs, as corn flakes, peanut butter and pasta sauce but also delicacies like brie, caviar and chocolates.
The investigating officials said that the suicide attacker lobbed atleast one grenade inside the grocery store before he blew up his explosives.
It was third deadly attack in Kabul in less than 2 months and the worst of a civilian targeted attacks in the city since Feb 2010, when suicide attackers blew two residential hotels, killing 20 people.
