Joginder Kaur cremated with state honour

Tohra (Patiala), Jan 27 (PTI) Joginder Kaur, wife oflate Akali stalwart Gurcharan Singh Tohra, was cremated withfull state honour today.

Kaur died yesterday after a brief illness.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dalpresident Sukhbir Singh Badal, general secretary SukhdevSingh Dhindsa and leaders cutting across political affiliationpaid their last respects to Kaur.

Kaur''s grandson Harinderpal Singh Tohra and son-in-lawHarmail Singh Tohra lit the pyre, even as a full contingent ofPunjab police fired in the air to give her the last salute.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,who is abroad, has expressed grief and sorrow over the demiseof Kaur.

In his condolence message, he described Kaur as an"icon of Sikh way of life who dedicated her entire life forthe well being of the Sikh community." PTI SUN DKS ATU
