Los Angeles, Jan 27 (PTI) Hollywood icon RobertRedford''s Sundance Institute today announced a partnershipwith the Mahindra Group to organise an annual screenwriterslab in India.
"With the Sundance partnership, we shall be able torecognise, nurture and hone incredible talent in India andacross the world. We are at an exciting storytelling stage inthe history of the film industry in both India andinternationally," said Rohit Khattar, Director, Mumbai MantraMedia Ltd.
Mumbai Mantra is the media and entertainment divisionof Mahindra Group.
The lab will bring together 6 to 8 screenwriters fromIndia to work with accomplished international screenwriters.
Sundance and Mahindra also announced the setting up ofthe ''Sundance Institute Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award'', tobe given to four emerging independent filmmakers from aroundthe world.
Beginning next year, one out of the four awardrecipients will be an Indian director.
The winners of the inaugural Sundance InstituteMahindra Global Filmmaking award, announced today, are--Romanian director Bogdan Mustata for ''Wolf'', Mexicandirector Ernesto Contreras for ''I Dream In Another Language'',Malaysian director Seng Tat Liew for ''In What City Does ItLive?'' and Israeli director Talya Lavie for her film ''ZeroMotivation''.
