WEST BANK: A Palestinian boy on Thursday was shot dead during the clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinians in the West Bank, the Haaretz newspaper reported.
An 18-year-old boy was reportedly shot in the chest by settlers from Yitzhar, a village near Nablus. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched an investigation to clarify the incident.
Preliminary reports indicate that the boy was with his cousin in the village located in the town of Burin. They were throwing rocks at the Israeli settlers who responded by beating the boys.
After that, the Yitzhar settlers allegedly shot the teenager in the chest. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he died due to the wounds sustained. The settlers denied opening fire at the Palestinian teens.
The Judea and Samaria District Police and IDF troops arrived at the crime scene to gather evidence in order to determine the causes of the death of the Palestinian teenager. They responded to a report indicating a disturbance between Israelis and Palestinians.
In November, an Israeli resident was arrested for allegedly shooting dead a 16-year-old Palestinian boy. The teenager was shot by the Yitzhar resident who worked as a security guard at the settlement's entrance.
