10 dead as building collapses in Makati

Manila, Jan 27: In Makati on Tuesday, Jan 25 a bomb exploded in a bus that killed atleast four and wounded 14. On Thursday, Jan 27 Makati observed another disaster in which atleast 10 were confirmed dead and toll feared to increase, as the rescue operations were going on. In early hours of Thursday a 40 storey building was collapsed, while scaffolding on building in Makati city.

Police Chief Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio said, “the incident occurred around 11:45 am from the 34th floor of the 40-storey Eton Residences on the corner of Paseo De Roxas and Gallardo Street in Makati. The building is currently under construction."

Bonifacio said that scaffolding at the building's first floor landed on the seventh floor.

The police line of troops has already separated the building and rescue team from the Bureau of Fire Protection are conducting the operations and recovering the victims' bodies.
