26/11 martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan to be honoured posthumously

Thane, Jan 27: 26/11 martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan will be honoured posthumously with the ''Maharana Pratap Shaurya Puraskar'' at a function here for his supreme sacrifice for the nation.

This was announced here today by Advocate Banwarilal Sharma, organiser of the Kavi Sammelan, where the NSG brave heart will be honoured on Jan 29. Addressing media men here, Sharma said Unnikrishnan''s parents will be receiving the bravery award on his behalf at the function.

The Harvanshrai Bachchan Sahitya Ratna Puraskar will be given to eminent Marathi literary figure S N Navare while the Chhatrapati Maharaj Gourav Puraskar will be presented to Narsingh Yadav, who bagged Gold in the Commonwealth Games in Wrestling, he said.

Renowned poets from different parts of the country including Manik Verma (Harda); Surendra Dubey (Raipur); Vinit Chowhan (Alwar); Dr Sunil Jogi (Delhi); Sashikant Yadav (Ujjain); Rajendra Malviya (Itarsi); Atul Jwala (Indore); Adv. Rashid Khan (Thane) and Dr.Suman Dubey (Lucknow) will participate in the Sammelan, organised jointly by the Hindi Bashi Ekata Parishad and Rajastani Seva Samiti.

Former judge of the Bombay High Court Justice Jayant Chitre will be the chief guest on the occasion.
