Vadodara, Jan 25 (PTI) The first woman photographer ofIndia, Homai Vyarawalla, 98, was delighted to hear on beingawarded the Padma Vibhushan today.
"I am delighted and very happy. This award is not forme but for my work," Vyarawala told PTI.
Saying the award was a blessing of God, Vyarawalarecalled her early years when she began her career in Mumbaiwhen she was hired by the British Information Service.
"After sometime, me and my husband shifted to Delhiwhich gave me an opportunity to witness the Independencestruggle and be part of history," she said.
She also remembered the incident when country''s firstPrime Minister had recognised her when he was in Agra for somefunction. Vyarawala was at that time in Agra to meet her sonwho studied there.
She also had an advise for young photojournalists thatthey should be honest to their professions.
