Omar invites Jaitley to Republic Day function

Jammu, Jan 26: BJP senior leader Arun Jaitley, who was one of the BJP leaders arrested by Jammu Kashmir police for resorting to enter the state to hoist National flag at Srinagar's Lal Chowk, was invited to attend the Republic Day function by the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday night, Jan 25.

Omar spoke to Jaitley in a goodwill gesture and invited other BJP members as well to the Republic Day function either in Jammu or Kashmir. Omar's invitation to the BJP leaders comes hours after the BJP members, led by Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, were hindered by the police at Lakhanpur in Jammu Kashmir.

The chief minister told that he has invited the BJP delegation to be the guest at the Republic Day function at any of the two cities. "The state government will facilitate their participation at either of the venues," he added.

Omar said that he has ordered the release of the arrested BJP leaders and workers Earlier, during the day, the chief minister reviewed the arrangements for the Republic Day function.

He urged the state people to defeat the separatists' plan to disturb the Republic Day celebrations.
