Punjab sets up first incubation centre for new entrepreneurs

Chandigarh, Jan 25 (PTI) The Punjab government today saidthat it has set up the state''s first incubation centre for newentrepreneurs at Mohali near here.

Spread over an area of 12,000 square feet and equippedwith plug-and-play facilities, the centre shall providetechnical and financial assistance to budding entrepreneursfrom the state, an official release said here.

Punjab Secretary Industry S S Channy said the incubationcentre would provide the right kind of nurturing environmentto entrepreneurs who are in their start-up stages and requirea high degree of collaborative as well as competitiveenvironment to turn into stable businesses.

IDS Infotech MD and a permanent member of TiE PratapAgarwal added that TiE and STPI would provide all possiblesupport to make the centre a success.

Punjab Infotech MD Rakesh Verma said the incubationcenter space would be provided for a limited time, from 11months to a maximum of three years, after which the companieswould have to move out to their own premises.

He said that small entrepreneurs would be provided spaceon rental basis at incubation centre where plug-and-playfacilities would be provided to them.
