Bangalore, Jan 25 (PTI): Bangalore Rural Police have solvedthree major cases, including the mysterious murder of a woman,with arrest of 13 offenders and seized valuables worth Rs 65lakh from them.
The police have arrested two inter-state gangs involvedin theft of ornaments and two-wheelers and also another gangwhich cheated ATM card holders.
Central Range IGP Kamal Pant told reporters here thatAttibele police have arrested four-member gang which wasinvolved in jewellery theft in 12 cases.
The gang after erecting tents under the guise of labourersin a locality, used to identify residents who own jewellery.
Later they would shift their camp, return to the locality andcommit theft. Jewellery valued at Rs 40 lakh had beenrecovered from the gang.
Police nabbed two inter-state vehicle lifters and seized12 motor cycles, one kg silver and gold valued at Rs fourlakh, he said.
Anekal police arrested a three-member gang that cheatedATM card holders to the tune of Rs two lakh, Superintendent ofPolice B A Mahesh said.
The gang would wait at defunct ATMs and promising to helpthe customers, used to exchange the orginal card with anothercard. In the meantime, they also note down the PIN number anddraw cash using the cards, he said.
The police, Mahesh said, have also uncovered the mysterysurrounding the murder of a young woman whose disfigured bodywas found in Shivagange hills near Dobbaspet following thearrest of a 25-year-old youth.
The youth confessed during investigation that he hadmurdered another woman for gain by smashing her head withboulders and took away jewellery.
