Lahore, Jan 26: There seems to be no end to the violence in Pakistan as in yet another instance of suicide bombing nearly 13 people were killed and more than 50 wounded when a teenage suicide bomber blew himself up near a religious procession of Shi'ite Muslims in Lahore on Jan 25.
There were also reports of blast during a Shi'ite procession in Karachi. officials said that one person was killed while two more were wounded.
The attacks are suspected to be the handiwork of Islamist militants linked to al Qaeda and Taliban who consider Shi'ites as heretics. In the past too, they have attacked religious congregations to create an environment of chaos that could to lead to the fall of US backed Pakistani government.
Shi'ites carry large rallies to mark Chehlumor Arba'i at the end of their 40-day religious mourning period for Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad. He was killed during a battle in 680 AD in Karbala, a city in Iraq.
