Patna, Jan 25 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi todayalleged that RJD supremo Lalu Prasad had "usurped" reservationfor poor people belonging to upper caste when the latter wasChief Minister in 1992.
Stating that former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur hadprovided three per cent reservation for the poor people amongthe upper caste, Modi said it was unfortunate that on becomingChief Minister, Prasad snatched the right of reservation fromthem in 1992.
Modi was addressing a function to mark the 88th birthanniversary of former Chief Minister Thakur.
Claiming that his government firmly believed in taking allsections of the society together towards its march to ensureinclusive growth and development with justice, Modi said,adding "but it is our primary duty to work for mahadalitsamong dalits, backwards among extremely backwards and poor andweak among the upper caste."
Modi said the state government had already decided toconstitute a commission to suggest ways for the uplift ofeconomically and socially backward poor people among the uppercaste.
