New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) Home Minister P Chidambaram todayreviewed the operational preparedness of the CISF which isdeployed for the security of country''s major airports andnuclear and aerospace installations.
Chidambaram chaired a review meeting of the paramilitaryforce with its top officials during his visit to the CISFheadquarters here. He was accompanied by some senior HomeMinistry officials.
The minister, who spent almost two hours at theheadquarters, was given a presentation on the overalldeployment and responsibilities of the force at variousairports, nuclear, aerospace and oil installations, besideskey industrial units especially in naxal-affected states.
The officers are also understood to have briefedChidambaram about the expenditure on modernisation and welfareof the force.
Chidambaram, according to sources, asked the force tokeep up the morale of the troops and plug all loopholes whichhamper their duties.
The minister was also briefed about the forces'' deploymentin the private sector like at the Infosys campus in Bangaloreand Reliance refinery in Jamnagar (Gujarat).
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has around2.17 lakh personnel in its ranks and guards 57 airports alongwith the Delhi Metro network and historical monuments like theTaj Mahal in Agra and Red Fort in Delhi.
