Removing Kalmadi as OC chief not enough, says BJP
New Delhi, Jan 24 (PTI) Asserting that merely removingSuresh Kalmadi as chief of the Organising Committee will notserve the purpose till all those found guilty are punished,BJP today demanded fast tracking of probe into irregularitiescommitted in preparations for the Commonwealth Games.
"Excessive funds were allocated for the Commonwealth GamesOrganising Committee and the decision to do so was taken atthe highest level, including the Prime Minister''s Office.
Therefore, we want action against all those involved," BJPchief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
He said by merely removing Kalmadi from the post ofChairman of the Organising Committee would not serve thepurpose. "We would like all the probes to be fast tracked...there should be a transparent accountability of all," hesaid.
Kalmadi was today sacked as the Chairman of CommonwealthGames Organising Committee in the interest of impartial andunhindered investigations into allegations of corruptions inconducting the mega event.
Lalit Bhanot has also been removed as the SecretaryGeneral of the Organising Committee.
The decision to remove the two top officials was taken bythe new Sports Minister Ajay Maken.
