Jamshedpur, Jan 24 (PTI) Police batoncharged a mob tolift a road blockade demanding arrest of all those involved inthe killing of an autorickshaw driver Dharmendra Sao inSidgora area here and proper compensation for the bereavedfamily.
As the mob pelted stones at cops and stranded vehiclesand refused to lift road blockade on the main thoroughfareeven after three hours, police batoncharged the crowd, SeniorSuperintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha told a press meet.
Jha said the family members of Sao, who went missingsince January 15, lodged a missing report next day but an FIRwas filed on January 22 after Sao''s brother Jitendraapprehended that his brother had been kidnapped and murdered.
Acting on a tip-off, he said, police arrestedone Santan Ho from Birsanagar and his subsequent confessionled to recovery of a mutilated body of Dharmendra fromGovindpur area.
SSP said Dharmendra was strangulated with a rope andhis body was dumped under a culvert after the face was crushedwith a stone. The accused then dismantled hisautorichshaw to misled police, he said.
Jha said parts of the dismantled autorickshaw wasrecovered from the house of Ho.
Police also recovered blood stained clothes fromRao''s house as well as the stone used in the killing from thespot.
Apart from another accused Jena Rao, the main accusedVijay Sao, also an autorickshaw driver and two otheraccomplices Dhatu and Gorkha Lohar were at large.
