Itanagar, Jan 25 (PTI) Remote Koyu and Rina villagesin East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh have received amajor facelift after a 2 mw micro hydel project was dedicatedto the people by Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu on Sunday.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 29.47 crore, thepower project will benefit 28 villages in the vicinity.
With a 32 KV line on the anvil, the project isexpected to lessen the power crisis of Pasighat Township to agreat extent, official sources said here today.
Addressing the people on the occasion, Khandu calledupon them to be partners in development.
"Major thrust is being concentrated towardsinfrastructural development so that every village of the stateis well connected with road and electricity and gets basicamenities," Khandu said.
Informing about the new state education policy,Khandu made it amply clear that the education sector will berevamped with a missionary zeal.
Education and health being the priority sector ofhis government, he said all schools would have equalrepresentation of teachers and the transfer and posting ofteachers would be made compulsory after the prescribed tenure.
He assured that hostels and quarters for teacherswould be made available for schools wherever necessary so thatproper accommodation and congenial atmosphere is created inthe surroundings of the school.
Besides free textbooks, free uniform would also begiven to the poor students, Khandu said.
