Maha govt officers to strike to protest Malegaon incident
Mumbai, Jan 25 (PTI) Maharashtra Gazetted OfficersFederation has called for a day-long strike on January 27 toprotest the murder of Malegaon Additional District CollectorYashwant Sonawane allegedly by Petrol and Diesel mafia inManmad today.
G V Kulthe, General Secretary of the Federation told PTIthat other unions will join the Federation members in staginga massive protest against the "shocking" and "gruesome"incident.
"Sonawane was killed while on duty. We will come tooffice and then stage fierce protests all over the state,"Kulthe said.
Sonawane was burnt alive allegedly by petrol and dieselmafia at Manmad in Maharashtra''s Nashik district. The incidenttook place at a roadside Dhaba near Manmad, about 260 KM fromMumbai, police said here today.
Sonawane had gone there to conduct raids and searchpetrol-diesel tankers, police said.
