Bangalore, Jan 25: BJP on Tuesday, Jan 25 alleged that the Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj permitted to prosecute chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, to help Congress government by diverting people's attention from 2G, Commonwealth Games and other scams. Also, staged a protest outside the Raj Bhavan and courted arrest.

During the state BJP legislature party meeting, senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu said, “it was clear from the manner in which Union Ministers P Chidambaram and M Veerappa Moily supported Governor HR Bhardwaj."

He added, “the real villain of the entire episode is the Congress high command in Delhi."

“They UPA want to divert the attention of the people from massive, neck-deep corruption in which the central government is involved... lakhs of crores of public money have been looted...," Naidu said.

The BJP supporters shouting slogans against governor and marched towards Raj Bhavan. They were stopped by the stationed police outside the Raj Bhavan. Later, police were forced to arrest the members to control the situation.

The protest came a day after a BJP delegation led by senior leader L K Advani met President Pratibha Patil to complain about the unconstitutional conduct of the Governor and sought his recall.

The move to meet Patil came in the wake of heightened tension between Bhardwaj and the Chief Minister after the Governor sanctioned prosecution of Yeddyurappa.
