Karnataka share broker held for threatening to blow up BSE
Mumbai, Jan 24 (PTI) A share broker from Karnataka wastoday arrested for allegedly sending emails threatening toblow up the Bombay Stock Exchange, Maharashtra Anti-TerrorismSquad (ATS) said.
Mahantesh Kardalli, a commerce graduate, wasapprehended from Gulbarga, Deputy Police Commissioner (ATS)Pradeep Sawant said here.
The 23-year-old had sent threatening emails to an BSEemail ID, he said.
Kardalli was handed over to Cyber Cell of Mumbaipolice, which had registered an FIR in this connection.
In the mails, he had said bomb attacks will take placeon January 24 and 27. BSE Security Officer Jeevan Noravainformed his superiors about them following which an FIR wasregistered, they said.
The ATS, conducting a parallel investigation, nabbedthe accused and handed him over to the Cyber Cell.
Kardalli, who suffered financial losses following thefall in the Sensex, had sent the mails using his Internet datacard from [email protected], created by him onJanuary 21 on his friend''s name Farooq, police said.
Investigations traced the ID to Karnataka and Kardalliwas questioned and subsequently rounded up, they said, addingfurther probe was on.
