Failure to get justice breeds militancy, Naxalism: Moily

Panaji, Jan 24 (PTI) Union Law Minister Veerappa Moilytoday said the failure to get justice breeds tendencies likemilitancy and Naxalism.

"It is because people are not getting justice thatthere is Naxalism and militancy in the country," he said.

The Minister was addressing a gathering afterinauguration of an International Arbitration Centre here. GoaChief Minister Digambar Kamat and former Union MinisterRamakant Khalap were also present on the occasion.

Moily said only 4 per cent people in India solve theirissues and disputes with judicial mechanism. "This is becausethe rest find going to the court an expensive and timeconsuming affair."

The Minister said the efforts are made to ensurespeedy justice for the litigants. The UPA Government aims tohave a set up where all cases are disposed within three yearsof filing.

Like London and Singapore, India will become the nexthub for international arbitration, Moily said. "My ambition isto make India, the most attractive destination forinternational arbitration," he said, adding many such centreswould be started in the metros.

Kamat said the arbitration centre will reduce theburden of pending cases.
