CBI to probe Goa policemen-drug peddler nexus issue

Panaji, Jan 24 (PTI) The CBI will probe the Goapolicemen-drug peddler nexus issue, as Chief Minister DigamberKamat today approved a proposal to hand over the vexed case tothe premier central investigating agency.

"I have already given my consent on the (proposal) file.

Now the case will be handed over to the CBI in the next coupleof days," Kamat told PTI this evening.

The state Home Ministry had referred the file to theChief Minister.

The Goa government has been facing flak after the crimebranch failed to achieve any breakthrough in the nexus case.

Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik, too, was in the line of firefor allegedly derailing probe in the case.

The BJP had demanded a CBI inquiry in the case. FollowingBJP''s demand, Congress'' frontal students union, NationalStudents Union of India (NSUI) had also moved the High courtdemanding a CBI probe.
