New Delhi, Jan 24 (PTI) Congress today launched ablistering attack on BJP, terming the latter''s Rashtriya EktaYatra to Kashmir as the "most naked mainfestation of politicalopportunism" and questioned why it did not undertake any suchmarch when NDA was in power for six years.
"The Tiranga Yatra of BJP is possibly the most nakedmanfiestation of political opportunism. Srinagar is part ofIndia. It is not Muzaffarabad (in Pakistan) where you go tohoist the flag. Why this Yatra did not come out when NDA wasin power for six years. This is rank political opportunism.
This use of the national symbol for political gains need to becondemned," party spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters.
Reminding the BJP of land scam controversies inKarnataka, Tewari said,"If at all this Yatra has to be taken,it should be taken to Bangalore, which is also a state inIndia and where the rule of law does not prevail."
The Congress spokesperson also hailed the statementsby JD-U chief Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister NitishKumar disapproving the Yatra and asked BJP to listen to "atleast its ally".
"The statement of JD-U is practical. If BJP''s ally isalso saying that it needed to get above political opportunism, the former should listen at least to its ally if it islistening to our, the Prime Minister and Jammu and KashmirChief Minister''s arguments," Tewari said. .
