BJP announces agitational programme over Jammu incidents
New Delhi, Jan 24 (PTI) Upping its ante, BJP tonightannounced a series of agitations to protest the "treatmentmeted" out to its two senior leaders Sushma Swaraj and ArunJaitley at Jammu airport, including hunger strike by formerparty President Rajnath Singh.
Hours after Swaraj and Jaitley were detained at theJammu airport and prevented from entering the city to join theEkta Yatra, Rajnath Singh sat on hunger strike which will becontinued till the morning of January 26.
The party will also hold nationwide protests at districtlevel tomorrow to protest the "violation of democratic rights"of the senior leaders, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad toldreporters.
On the Republic Day on Wednesday, BJP workers will taketo the streets holding tricolors as a mark of protest againstthe government''s behaviour, Prasad said.
Asked whether the events could be compared to the daysof Emergency, the BJP spokesman said, "even during those days,protests were allowed and leaders of the level of Jaitley andSwaraj were not detained in such a manner." PTI AN AKK
