BJD dharna enters fourth day
Rourkela, Jan 25 (PTI) The relay dharna by BijuJanata Dal (BJD) workers alleging "step-motherly attitude" byRailways towards Orissa and Rourkela in particular enteredits fourth day here today.
The BJD would resort to "rail roko" from January 28for an indefinite period if their demands were not fulfilled,party sources said.
Rourkela unit of BJD has been agitating in support of17-point charter of demands including improvement of railservice in the steel city with more new trains, creation ofnew railway division headquarter at Rourkela, restoration ofnight train service through Rourkela to Howrah which has beensuspended from May, 2010 due to Maoist threat.
The BJD was also demanding modernisation of Rourkelastation to make it a world class station and direct trainservice to Metro cities like, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore,Allahabad and to other cities from Rourkela.
The party alleged that the Railways were neglectingRourkela and people of this tribal belt of Sundargarh districtthough it earns huge revenue from here.
