New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) In an attempt to make airtravel more affordable, Air India has decided to relax therules for concessions to the para military personnel and theirfamily members, senior citizens and children.
The national carrier decided to extend the discountcurrently available to the personnel of para military forcesto their family members also.
Personnel and family members of Border Security Force,Indo Tibetan Border Police, Coast Guards, Central IndustrialSecurity Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifles,Railway Protection force, Intelligence Bureau and SashastraSeema Bal can get the discount on their tickets by producingofficial identity card issued by the unit commandant of theconcerned establishment, an Air India spokesperson said.
"Other than on Apex fares, a discount of 50 per centon the basic fare component will be available on all farelevels in economy class for domestic sectors only," he said.
The airline has also introduced 50 per cent concessionon the basic fare for children on all economy class tickets.
"Children who have completed two years but have notcompleted 12 years of age are eligible for the discount on thebasic fare component," the official said, adding it would beapplicable on all economy class tickets except on apex fareson domestic sectors.
Apart from these, the national carrier has also madethe age bar uniform for men and women for senior citizen''sdiscount.
"From January 22, any person who has crossed the ageof 63 years can avail a discount of 50 per cent concession onthe basic fare of the normal economy class fare under thescheme," the official said.
Earlier, the discount was available to men who hadcompleted 65 years and women having completed 63 years of age.
