Washington, Jan 24 (ANI): Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell has said that he still supports US President Barack Obama, but is not certain about who to vote for in 2012.

Powell, a retired general and moderate Republican, shocked most Americans with his decision to endorse Democrat Obama, during the 2008 presidential elections over Republican John McCain.

He backed the Obama administration, but said that tough issues like the state of the economy and unemployment still needed to be addressed. Powel expressed the hope that Obama would be able to solve the concerns of these matters soon.

"I think he's got a way to go. I mean, he hasn't achieved all of his purposes, but he's stabilised the economy. You know, we didn't elect Superman. We elected a human being, Barack Obama," The Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

"I think he has reached out to countries around the world and has developed good relations with countries around the world. And I think he's working very hard on the issue of unemployment which I think is the major problem facing America right now, and I think and I hope that this will be the centrepiece of the State of the Union speech," Powel added.

Powel also dismissed speculations that he would replace Robert Gates as Defence Secretary, and added that he is not interested in government role, but is satisfied to be an informal advisor to Obama. (ANI)
