Miffed Kushwaha demands Nitish order probe into asset charges

Patna, Jan 24 (PTI) Peeved at some party colleaguesaccusing him of amassing huge wealth, JD(U) Rajya Sabha memberUpendra Kushwaha today sat on a 24-hour fast demanding ChiefMinister Nitish Kumar order a thorough probe into assetsearned by the former.

Kushwaha sat on the fast near the statue of the lateJaya Prakash Narayan here coinciding with the birthanniversary of veteran socialist and former Chief MinisterLate Karpoori Thakur.

Kushwaha said the chief minister was free to order aprobe either by a state agency or by any other independentagency into the property the former possessed.

He rubbished the allegations of his party colleaguesabout having amassed huge wealth.

Vice-President of ruling Janta Dal(U) in Bihar, C PSinha had a fortnight ago flayed Kushwaha for allegedlyamassing huge property between 2005 and 2010.

"Kushwaha has no right to teach morality to partyleaders and launch a crusade against corruption as he himselfamassed huge property during the past five years," Sinha andanother party leader Niranjan Kumar (Papu) had alleged.

The property of Kushwaha reached over Rs 2 crorebetween 2005 and 2010, a rise of 369.89 per cent, the twoleaders had alleged and demanded action against him underrelevant sections of Income tax Act.
