Kanpur, Jan 24 (PTI) The district administration todayallotted a flat to the family of the 12-year-old girl who diedafter being sexually assaulted in her school here in Septemberlast year, and said efforts were to rope in the stategovernment for more help.
"We came to know about about mother of Divya, SonuBhadauria, who had been living under a shed, therefore, underthe government scheme they have been allotted a flat to whichthe family will soon shift. We will approach the stategovernment for economic assistance," the District MagistrateMukesh Meshram told PTI.
Anushka alias Divya, a fourth standard student of GyanBharati, was sexually assaulted within the school premisesallegedly by the manager''s younger son on September 27 and wassent back home along with two maids following which she died.
After 15 days of the incident, owner the family''s rentedhouse at Roshan Nagar here was asked them to vacate theaccommodation fearing negative publicity the case brought tothe locality, Sonu said.
The death of the 12-year-old also cost her parents theirjobs as they were busy following the case at courts, Sonu,who earlier worked at a mall, said.
However, the DM assured the mother could rejoin the jobas they had talked with the authorities at her workplace.
Besides, a sum of Rs 25,000 donated by Red Cross, thefamily has been provided a Below Poverty Line (BPL) card and amonths''s ration, Meshram added.
The CB-CID probe in the incident ordered on October 23found school manager Chanderpal Verma and his two sons Mukeshand Piyush guilty.
Later, a DNA examination during the probe suggested theinvolvement of Piyush, the prime accused, in the assault, anda charge sheet was filed against him in a special CJM court inJanuary.
The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier suspended threepolice officers in the case.
