Initially, the system would be installed in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, and Somnath. In these cities, 167 traffic junctions and 128 strategic spots have been selected for installation of the CSITMS. It will provide round the clock surveillance recording real-time information including voice and video from different areas.
According to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, SK Sinha, the tenders have been floated by the Home Department for installation of the CSITMS in major cities of the state. It will help to provide instant response in emergency times whether it is security or traffic-related ones.
The Internet Protocol (IP) based CSITMS would be installed to guard public properties, to minimise environmental and human threats and prevent crime, the Home Department said.
The CSITM system would involve a network of cameras, installed at government or private building, would send the video captured through fibre optic cables or a wireless network to the control room, located in each of the cities, the Department sources said.
In the CSITM system, cameras would have zooming, panning facilities besides being able to work in low luminance (light) environment.
