Chandigarh, Jan 24 (PTI) After a brief respite, coldconditions once again returned to Punjab and Haryana todaywith the minimum temperature dropping below normal in severalparts of the region.
The mercury hovered between one to three degrees Celsiusbelow normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the Metoffice said here today.
However, barring Ludhiana, there were no foggy conditionsin the region.
Ludhiana was coldest in the plains with the mercurysettling at a low of 2.7 degrees Celsius, which is threedegrees below normal.
While Amritsar braved a low of three degrees Celsius, onenotch below normal, the minimum temperature at Patiala was3.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
Among other places, Karnal settled at a low of 4.6degrees Celsius, two notches below normal followed by 5degrees Celsius at Chandigarh, one notch below normal, 5.1degrees Celsius at Hisar and 5.2 degrees Celsius at Narnaul.
While the minimum in Rohtak was 6.3 degrees Celsius,Ambala registered a low of 6.4 degrees Celsius.
The Met forecasts dry weather in the region during thenext two days with a drop in night temperatures.
