Ahmedabad, Jan 24 (PTI) In a bid to minimise threats,prevent crime and safeguard public areas, the Gujaratgovernment has decided to install CCTV-based City Surveillanceand Intelligent Traffic Management System (CSITMS) in majorcities of the state.
Initially, the system would be installed in cities ofAhmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Gandhinagar and Somnath.
In all, 167 traffic junctions and 128 strategiclocations have been chosen for installation of the CSITMS thatwill provide round the clock surveillance recording real-timeinformation including voice and video from different areas.
"The tenders for installation of the CSITMS in majorcities of the state has been floated by the Home department,"Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order,S K Sinha told PTI.
He said that this system would help in providing quickresponse in all emergencies be it security or traffic.
According to the state Home department the CSITMS willbe an Internet Protocol (IP) based system that would beinstalled to safeguard public areas, to minimise environmentaland human threats and prevent crime.
The CSITM system would have a network of camerasinstalled a government or private building which would sendthe video captured through fiber optic cables or a wirelessnetwork to the control room, located in each of the cities.
The cameras that would be used for this kind of highsecurity system would have capability of zooming, panningbesides being able to work in low luminance (light)environment. (More) PTI PB PD DK DK
