Moghul of Hindustani music Bhimsen Joshi no more

Pune, Jan 24: Well-known musician Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passed away in Pune on Monday morning, Jan 24.

The 89-year-old Joshi was hospitalised a couple of days back. Joshi was the recipient of the country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna." Joshi, who was a member of the Kirana Gharana, received the award in 2008. He has also received several titles like Sangita Kalanidhi.

Joshi was rushed to the city's Sahyadri hospital on Dec 31 following old-age related ailments, complaints like breathlessness, vomiting and general weakness. He had also kidney failure.

Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain had visited Joshi in hospital and enquired about his health.
