Coimbatore,Jan 24 (PTI) The opposition alliance to fightthe ruling DMK-Congress combine in Tamil Nadu in the assemblyelections, due in May this year, would be formed by February20, CPI state unit secretary D.Pandian said today.
All those parties, excluding BJP, who wanted to oust theDMK-Congress combine from power, would be invited to join thealliance and discussions were going on with many parties, ledby AIADMK, Pandian told reporters here.
The main aim of the party would be to broaden andstrengthen the alliance, with inclusion of more like-mindedparties, so that the present incumbent could be easily ousted,he said, adding, seats would be decided after formation ofthe alliance.
The alliance would not impose any conditions to themembers parties, he said.
Holding Congress at the Centre and DMK in the State, responsible for "all the ills that are facing the country,"mainly corruption and price rise, he said people, unlike in thebypolls, would vote for a change, without fear, since moneycould not play a major role to change the minds of voters.
On fishermen issue, he said the "wrong" policies adopted byCongress and DMK particularly with regard to Sri Lanka, werethe major cause for the continued killing of fishermen, allegedly by Sri Lankan Navy.
