Panaji, Jan 21 (PTI) Goa club Salgaocar Sports Club, whoare on a high after a good showing in the on going I-League,have signed three more players from the Indian team whichparticipated in the on going Asian Cup 2011.
Defender Govin Singh, mid-fielders Baldeep Singh andJames Singh are the players who have been signed by Salgaocarto strengthen their defense and midfield.
Though the trio did not play in the three matches againstAustralia, Bahrain and South Korea, which India lost, theyhave proven talent which could prove crucial for Salgaocarwhen the race for the I-League title hots up, coachKarim Bencherifa said.
"These are crucial signings for us. We have picked thembecause of their quality and also they are young and ambitiousand fit in our scheme, just the way our team is," saidBencherfia.
Salgaocar have caught many teams by surprise with theirstupendous performance which saw them beating defendingchampions Dempo Sports Club and title contenders ChurchillBrothers in a thriller to place themselves in the second spotwith 21 points from 10 matches, five behind table toppers EastBengal.
While Govin is expected to provide for cover at thecentre of defence, which Salgaocar is lacking, the other twowill bring in more solidity in the midfield.
