Ten Doeschate hopes to carry Dutch at World Cup

The Hague (Netherlands), Jan 19 (AP) The Netherlands haspicked a 15-man squad for the Cricket World Cup team thatblends local talent with experienced overseas players such asbig-hitting South Africa-born Essex all-rounder Ryan TenDoeschate.

The Netherlands Cricket Union says it announced its WorldCup squad well ahead of today''s deadline because many of theplayers are amateurs and needed as much notice as possible toget time off from their employers.

Peter Borren, who played under-19 cricket for NewZealand, captains the team that opens its campaign againstEngland on Feb 22 in Nagpur.

The Dutch also play the West Indies, South Africa, India,Bangladesh and Ireland in a tough group at the Feb 19-April 2tournament being hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Netherlands squad: Peter Borren (capt), Wesley Baressi(wkt), Mudassar Bukhari, Atse Buurman, Tom Cooper, Tom deGrooth, Alexei Kervezee, Bradley Kruger, Bernard Loots, AdeelRaja, Pieter Seelaar, Eric Swarczynski, Ryan Ten Doeschate,Berend Westdijk, Bas Zuiderent.
