Mumbai varsity trounce holders Sambalpur at hockey meet

Mumbai, Jan 10 (PTI) Hosts University of Mumbai todaycarried their superb form from the zonals to the All Indiainter zonals by drubbing defending champions SambalpurUniversity, Orissa 10-0 in a league match of the INKInfrastructure Inter-University men''s hockey tournament here.

Mumbai led 4-0 at the breather.

The architect of the home side''s fluent victory wasskipper Yuvraj Walmiki, who continued his consistent displayby finding the net five times. Dharmendra Antil, anotherprolific scorer, chipped in with four goals and Pradeep K gotthe the other for the winners.

In another match, M Shanmugham fired home four goals,including in a fine hat-trick to guide Madras University to animpressive 6-0 win against SGGA University, Ambernath. AAravindhan and M Thagrajan scored the other two goals for thewinners.

Jamia University, Delhi also enjoyed a comfortable outingas they romped to a convincing 8-1 win over Tamil Nadu''sBharatidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.

For the winners, Sandeep Kumar struck thrice, Shivdeepand Pawan Malik got a brace each while Devi Prasan scoredonce. G Gangadaran notched the lone goal for the losers.

In another tie, Kurukshetra University, Haryana defeatedBenares Hindu University 3-0, the winners'' goals coming fromthe sticks of Harmjot Singh, Parvee and Malak Singh.
