Mumbai, Jan 19 (PTI) Chennai-based Mediaone GlobalEntertainment (Mediaone) today said it has inked a 50:50 jointventure with Avon Global Solutions Pvt Ltd for introducingadvance digital transmission technology, SecureDuct.
"Both JV partners will invest total of Rs 110 crore inthis state-of-the-art technology and hopes to earn revenueover Rs 900 crore in the first three-year period," MediaoneManaging Director Suryaraj Kumar told reporters here.
SecureDuct technology is very simple, akin to sendingemail with attachment. Using it, Mediaone will distributemovie prints to theatres worldwide through satellite, whichwill help in reducing the cost of distribution.
The cost of acquiring a movie for theatres will bereduced to almost nothing from the current distribution costworks out at approximately Rs 80,000 per movie print throughthis technology. This will be a direct saving for the cinemaowners. Not only they save on the print cost, they can earnfrom other programmes inbuilt, Kumar said.
SecureDuct will also provide protection from allmethods of movie piracy, including filming the movie from thescreen. A video scrambling technology based on frame rateswill be deployed to achieve this, Avon Global HeadVasanthakrishnan said.
Through this technology, cinema owners will not onlysave on the print cost, but also have a chance to earn moneyby using SecureDuct through our ad-revenue sharing programme,he said.
Mediaone is a BSE-listed company in the entertainmentand media space. Avon Global is primarily into softwaredevelopment and IT consulting.
