Lawyer commits suicide, blames government officials

Kanpur, Jan 20 (PTI) A lawyer allegedly committed suicideby hanging himself from a ceiling after his repeated plea toauthorities to get his wife transferred faield to get anyresponse, police said.

Vinay Kumar Singh (42), a resident of Feelkhana area,hanged himself last night in his room when his daughter wasstudying in a separate room and his wife was away.

"He was depressed since last few days as he wanted hiswife, Uma, a primary school teacher at Farrukhabad, to betransferred to Kanpur," Circle officer Sameer Saurabh said.

Vinay had also written request letters in this regard tosenior district officials as well to state Health MinisterAnant Kumar Mishra, an MLA from Farrukhabad, his familymembers said.

In a suicide note found from his room, Vinay hasalleged that he was taking this extreme step as he was fed upwith the system as his request was not met, instead his wifewas suspended, the Circle Officer said.

He said efforts are also being made to trace the originalsuicide note as the one found is a photocopy.

An investigation is on to probe the exact cause of hisdeath, he said.
