Jammu, Jan 20 (PTI) Set to focus on security ofenvironment and climate in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre willgive Rs 90 crore to the state to execute a World Bank-aidedproject on climate change and environment security.
"The Centre has agreed to provide Rs 90 crore forexecution of World Bank-aided project on climate change andenvironment security," Minister for Forests, Ecology andEnvironment Mian Altaf Ahmad said.
Altaf, who met Union Minister for Environment andForest Jairam Ramesh recently, said that an amount of Rs 100crore as a one-time special grant has also been asked from theCentre for rehabilitation of the degraded forests.
Ramesh appreciated the idea and asked the state tosubmit a proposal for the same, he said.
The state government has constituted WullarDevelopment Authority (WDA) for which an amount of Rs 120crore have been earmarked in the 13th Finance Commission, hesaid.
Mian Altaf also demanded enhancement of the ceiling ofnext year�s funds under Forest Development Agency (FDA) fromRs 9 crore to Rs 27 crore.
