Aizawl, Jan 20 (PTI) The Indian Air Force has plannedto set up an Air Defence Radar Station in the strategicallyimportant state of Mizoram, an official release said heretoday.
Sandwiched between two countries, the north easternstate has 404 km and 318 km long international borders withMyanmar and Bangladesh respectively.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between GovernorLt Gen M M Lakhera and the visiting Air Marshall K K Nohwar,AOC-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command at the Raj Bhavan hereyesterday.
The release said 300 acres of land at Zopuitlang inLunglei district was identified by the IAF and the civiladministration for the purpose.
Long term use of the lone Lengpui Airport of the stateby IAF aircraft was also discussed at the meeting.
