Younis scalp fuels New Zealand hopes; Pak 160/4 at tea

Wellington, Jan 19 (AFP) New Zealand snared the crucialwicket of Younis Khan on the fifth day of the second Testagainst Pakistan today to give the Black Caps renewed hope ofa series-levelling victory.

Younis (81) had combined with Pakistan captainMisbah-ul-Haq (37) for a 118-run partnership before edging aTim Southee delivery to wicketkeeper Reece Young on the lastball before tea.

The pair, who anchored Pakistan''s first innings, cametogether with the side reeling at 42-3 as they chased a fourthinnings target of 274 for a win that would give them a 2-0series win.

New Zealand still need to take six wickets in the finalsession to avenge a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the firstTest in Hamilton and will hope the Younis dismissal sparks acollapse.

Earlier, New Zealand made a perfect start when TimSouthee trapped Taufeeq Umar lbw for a first ball duck in thesecond over.

Chris Martin then dismissed Azhar Ali (10) lbw in the11th over and induced a thick edge to the slips from MohammadHafeez (32) in his next over.
